My Best and oldest furry friend has passed away tonight. King Odin is our Golden Retriever who was 9 years old. He hadn't been feeling well lately, being sick from probably an intestinal infection..... where he was on antibiotics and special diet. By the end of the first week he was feeling better and back to his perky self, rolling around in the grass and defending the backyard. He also had Hip dysplasia real bad which was making it difficult to get up, once he was up he moved around pretty good but you could tell it was bothering him. Odin also suffered from occasional seizures.
Earlier today he was out with dad in the backyard rolling around in the fresh cut grass and seemed okay. He was out there defending the backyard and barking, his usual day..... and when I got home tonight from band camp and dad got home from work, we went to check on Odin and Annie in the backyard, Annie was at the back door whimpering and Odin never came. Dad found him laying in his favorite spot in the yard. We called Dr. Pat and he thinks with his age and the way he was having trouble breathing lately and being sick recently that he may have had an underlying heart condition and probably died of heart attack.
Odin was my dad's dog as my mom bought him for dad for his birthday present 9 years ago, So it's really hard on him tonight as his best friend has passed away. :(( We still have our other babies and love them very much, but tonight.... our hearts are breaking for the loss of our Bubba, King Odin 6/8/2001 - 8/19/2010 We love you and miss you!!
